In 2016 we saw the hype of the stretch sock boot come to the forefront in footwear. Spurred on by Yeezy (season 2) collection, stretch lycra materials used on these styles almost mimic a second skin as the designs form a seamless silhouette on the foot.

Autumn Winter 17/18 will continue to offer the evolution of the knit boot. Ribbed and perforated knitted uppers are key for this trend and we are loving Gianvito Rossi’s ‘Vires’ version on a peep toe bootie. Other brands embracing the sock boot include Dior, Balenciaga and Fendi.

Sand and military green tones will be key fashion colours for this look, however Black is essential for basics. Knitted uppers are also very strong on athleisure footwear and we’re seeing top end brands such as Fendi embracing this sporty look on a dressy boot construction. What is so great about the stretch element of this trend is how easy it is to wear this look. With no lace ups or buckles it’s simply ‘pull up your socks’

Blush, soft pink, pink pastel however you want to call it, this shade is super strong this season. Pantone is calling it 'Ballet Slipper' and is naming this shade as one of the key colours for S/S 18. We generally presume this type of shade to be spring colour however we are seeing that colour is continuing throughout the cooler months as the shift in trends are becoming seasonless.

On a recent trip sourcing trip I attended a Pantone seminar presented by Trendstop and some of words used to describe the new colour pallet included calming, decompressing, which I think describes both blush and grey tones well . Pantone calls the grey Neutral Grey. Both of these shades harmonize so well together and will be strong in both accessories and apparel. Blush trench coats and grey knotted sweaters will be key. In footwear soft suede materials in blush and grey (even pops of powder blue) will prevalent in pumps and slip on mules.

  • Metallics

It’s red carpet season and we’re seeing loads of metallics on display.

We saw Gigi walk the Balmain runway during Paris Fashion Week draped in a combination of gold and silver panels and the Paco Rabanne runway show similarly shined.

From the runway to the red carpet, metallics made quite a statement at the Golden Globes and SAG awards.

Drew Barrymore stunned in her sheer layered with metallic accent Monique Lhullier gown and Michelle Williams looked bold in a metallic panelled Louis Vuitton gown.

    On the footwear front...
